Ford asks NBC to ban tonights ad

Just a few minutes ago it was reported that Ford is urging NBC Studios to not show the Chevy Superbowl Ad tonight. The ad appeared Friday afternoon online and was a direct stab at Ford. Ford claims that Chevy is making truly false remarks about their reputation in this ad. The Superbowl is truly a global stage for commercials to show and it would be horrible to be on the receiving end of any lies or rumors towards your company. Now, we see auto makers publishing white lies every day about their competitors, but this is a little more personal when you have to make the remark during the Superbowl. This would be a hefty price tag for Chevy to pay if they chose not to air the commercial. They would most likely have to eat the costs themselves unless they air it. It is interesting to watch this take place behind the scenes when everyone is watching the teams now enter the stadium.

If you watch the ad below, it is an interesting end of the word concept. Hostess employs product placement of their Twinkie's product which has an extremely long shelf life. So Hostess is also against taking down the ad. I am curious as to what the final decision will be.

My daughter's Science teacher did an experiment with a jar of various foods. The last food put into the jar just happened to be a Twinkie that a student offered which was left over from their lunch that day. The next year the jar was full of liquid because the food had completely broken down. Floating in the jar was a Twinkie. Interesting? Makes one think twice before eating one :) I didn't get any sound out of video so I can't voice an opinion on this... However I think companies should have a right to compete as long as whatever information they give about their competitor is honest.
